  • Welcome to our Blog!

Matt+Chera = romantic and fun photography!

Matthew and I just celebrated 5 years of marriage and have been shooting weddings and portraits for over five years. We have this amazing connection in life where we just get each other and get moments that are meaningful to others. I could tell you more about us, but I'd rather show you some of our work! Thanks for stopping by!

Laura and Mitch won our Valentines day Facebook contest; I had asked how our Facebook fans spent their Valentines with their loved one.  Laura commented and said that she and Mitch spent Valentines day putting together furniture in their baby “to be” Luke’s room.  This made me smile and tear up a little because I know what a beautiful time Mitch and Laura are in, I know the excitement and anticipation of waiting for baby.  I knew that I chose the right couple for the shoot as soon as I met them.  I loved that when I asked them to look closely at each other for a photo, Mitch leaned in for a kiss, it shows that for him that is just a normal thing to do when the love of his life is so near.

I am also glad it rained and instead of taking photos outside we got do the photos in Luke’s room. I am glad because the room shows their heart and how much they already love this little boy.

When we were taking pictures of Laura in the rocking chair, Mitch was looking at her with so much love.  He told us that one of the cutest moments of this pregnancy was when he found Laura in Luke’s room,  rocking in her grandmother’s rocking chair, holding her belly.  She looked up and said to Mitch”I just wanted to rock him.”

Laura and Mitch you two are adorable, and we were lucky to meet you and honoured that you let us into your home to capture this moment in your life.  Luke is a lucky little man!!

Mitch found these vintage school readers when he was 19 and carried them around with him thinking he would be able to use them someday (how cute is that?).  I think this book mobile was the perfect use!

Tanya and Jeff are quiet and sweet and such a good team.  In the short time we spent with them, you could just see how they support one another; whether it was with an encouraging word or with help onto a balance beam, they are there for one another -I just love them!

I am so excited about sharing this maternity shoot with my blog readers, because part of it took place in a gymnastics club -how cool is that?  I asked Tanya if there was a spot that was meaningful to her and Jeff, feeling a little silly for putting her on the spot, but immediately she said, “the gym”.   She and Jeff were gymnasts (and Tanya is now a coach) and their time together really revolves around gymnastics.  It was such an honour to see them in their element and to take photos that showed a piece of their story.

Tanya and Jeff, I hope you are having fun snuggling your little bundle -I am sure you are an amazing parenting team!!!

Aisha and Will are where old hollywood glam meets two down-to-earth, very in love people.  We were asked to photograph their east coast reception as they had gotten married in Toronto just days before, but wanted a chance to share their joy and their story with their maritime family -we are so glad they did!  We spent an incredible afternoon and evening with them, soaking up the Saint John sun and the company of wonderful people.

I love that the couple shots were centred around a jaunt to the market to pick up their one of a kind organic cake from The Baking Stone, they took time to bag some dulse (one of Will’s fave maritime treats), and then we headed back to meet with friends and family.

Thank you Will and Aisha so much for including us in your extended celebration -you are both gems and whenever you stop by the east coast, we would love to catch up!

He slipped away from the house to set his plan in motion; today he was taking a risk – trusting that the ice would hold and also trusting that she would say yes.  The scene was set, each flower petal was placed, and his message was etched onto the glass-like river.  He headed out a second time to the river – this time hand in hand with Josiane. Their new snowshoes crunched on the soft new fallen snow until they came upon Kyle’s handiwork.  A heart was outlined in the snow and traced with petals; inside the heart it read, “you and me till the end”  and as Josiane read those words Kyle got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.

Josiane and Kyle, I wish you many more winter snows and snowshoe adventures, I wish you perfectly calm rivers for kayaking and much happiness.  We couldn’t have found a more amazing couple to share this week’s beautiful, picturesque weather. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!!

The grey hued sky and rain clouds did not echo the mood of this perfect wedding day.  At noon Sarah was all smiles and the picture of calm, having already put the finishing touches on the reception decor, leaving no detail unattended – each homemade jam jar set out, the cross stitched ornament place cards were placed, the hand made letters on burlap perfectly strung, the moulded wire name tags on the head table were positioned, the burlap runners matched the chair ties – her vision was perfected and all that was left to do was to see Hurst, so they could walk through their wedding day together. They decided to do a first look, and it couldn’t have been more special. Friends and family watched as a beautiful Sarah walked to Hurst; there were tears, hugs, a kiss or two, and it set the tone for the rest of the day.

In a cozy country church Sarah and Hurst stood, speaking their vows in front of the same altar that her parents recited their vows,  in the same church where Sarah’s grandparents had wed.  During the ceremony Hurst caught Sarah’s eye with this subtle unwavering look of love that so captured his quiet affection and adoration for her. Hand in hand they took in every detail, the readings they had chosen – the exquisite solos that were sung, the communion that was shared – each moment was savoured under the same roof where her grandparents’ and parents’ stories began.

Sarah and Hurst, I cannot begin to say how wonderful you two are, from the email correspondences we have shared to the engagement shoot that felt like a hang out, we have enjoyed every aspect of your wedding preparation and day!  Enjoy your sneak peek, and I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the shots!!

    Sarah and Hurst,

I saw the beauty of your special day for myself, but these pictures remind me just how beautiful you both were. Stunning!!

Coming from the father of the bride Matt and Chera you two were absolutely awesome. From beginning to end you were very professional and absolutely wonderful, you just fit right in and seemed like you had been part of our family for a lifetime. If you happen to need new parents at any time just let us know and we will adopt you into our family! Your photos are incredible but the fact you are able to separate the necessary work you need to do in such a discrete and personal manner is what makes you both so great. I have been at some weddings where the photographer was the center of attention but definitely not so with you guys. You added such a great dimension to the wedding, one which I had never thought of before and certainly made Sarah’s Day the perfect day she had hoped and dreamed for. Thanks so much for everything and you know where we live!

What a beautiful event!!! Everything went very well by the looks of the pictures. It was so nice to have the wedding in that beautiful little church that holds so many fond memories. I wish blessings and happiness always for the happy couple! Many thanks for sending the pictures–It makes me realize how fast time flies. Keep in touch; I love hearing about your family. Love to all!!
